What's All The Buzz About MCT?

What’s All The Buzz About MCT?

What’s the deal with MCT? It’s popping up everywhere. In bottles of oil on the supermarket shelves, in coffee, and even in MCT oil powder. But what exactly is it and what does it do?

What is MCT?

MCT stands for Medium Chain Triglyceride and is a compound that is naturally occurring only in coconut and palm oil, human breast milk and full-fat cow and goat milk. The benefit of these medium-chain triglycerides is that they are easily absorbed by the body. This is especially helpful for people who have fat absorption issues, such as Chron’s disease, pancreatitis, or celiac disease. This quick and easy digestibility is also why it’s become all the mainstream rage. Since the body can rapidly metabolize the fat, it doesn’t get stored and there’s a quick metabolic boost that occurs.

Use MCT in Your Coffee

My favorite way to get my early morning energy boost is to add a tsp of Carrington Farms’ MCT Oil Powder to my morning coffee. It mixes in completely, gives it a creamy taste, and adds a little extra oomph to my java.

MCT is Still a Fat

But remember, MCT oil is still a fat and, like all fats, is high in calories. Try a little in your coffee or smoothie and experience the burst of energy. After all, isn’t a quick-pick-me-up something we all could use these days?
