  1. 4.      How We Use the Information

We use the information we collect to respond to the communications you send to Carrington, deliver the products you purchase through the Site, improve your experience with our Site and Services, to prevent fraudulent use of the Site, and for other purposes described in this Privacy Policy or disclosed to you on our Sites.

  1. 5.      Information We Share with Others

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your Personally Identifiable Information to third parties unless we provide you with prior notice. This does not include website hosting and shipping partners, or other parties who assist us in operating our Site, conducting our business, administering contests, promotions, or referral programs, processing payments, or providing our Services (“Other Parties”), with whom we may share your Personally Identifiable Information only for such purposes.

We use third-party payment processors to process financial payments for certain Services.  When you make payments to Carrington and/or obtain certain Carrington Services, Carrington may transfer certain information (including Personally Identifiable Information) to these payment processors for the sole purpose of facilitating the payment transaction, such as your Name, Address, and Credit Card Information.

Should such a sale or transfer occur, we will use reasonable efforts to require that the transferee use personally-identifiable information provided through our Sites in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy.

  1. 6.      Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the hard drive of your computer that contains information about you and that is used for record keeping purposes. Cookies enable us to track and target your interests to enhance your experience on the Site. We may set and access cookies on your computer to provide you with customized content and to assist in providing the products that you have requested. We also work with companies who provide services to maintain the Site and enable those service providers the right to use cookies on our Site. Most cookies automatically delete themselves from your hard drive after each session. Like many other websites, we may automatically track information based upon your behavior on the Site, including combining information that we obtain through the use of cookies with Personally Identifiable Information, or other aggregate or anonymous data, including a unique identification we may assign you.

We also may combine information obtained from first- and third-party cookies to help us better understand our customer demographics and how customers interact with our sites. The information may include browser type, internet service provider, language setting, screen resolution, referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, IP address, and number of clicks, all used to analyze trends, administer the Site, track your movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Most web browsers are initially set up to accept cookies; however, you can reset your web browser to reject all cookies. If you reject the cookie, you may still use the Site, although your access to and use of some areas of the Site may be limited. In addition, if you refuse to accept cookies you agree to assume all responsibility for any resulting loss of functionality.

  1. 7.      Remarketing

Carrington also uses 3rd party vendor re-marketing tracking cookies, including the Google Adwords tracking cookie. This means we will continue to show ads to you across the internet, specifically on the Google Content Network (GCN). As always we respect your privacy and are not collecting any identifiable information through the use of Google’s or any other 3rd party remarketing system. The third-party vendors, including Google, whose services we use – will place cookies on web browsers in order to serve ads based on past visits to our Site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to our Site. This allows us to make special offers and continue to market our Services to those who have shown interest in our service.

You may opt out of Google’s use of cookies by visiting the Ads Preferences Manager. Also, you can opt out of other third-party vendor’s use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

  1. 8.      California Do Not Track Disclosures and “Shine the Light” Law

Because Carrington does not track its customers over time and across third party websites to provide targeted advertising, Carrington does not respond to Do Not Track signals.

Under the California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents may opt-out of our disclosure of personally-identifiable information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. As detailed above, you may choose to opt-out of the sharing of your personally-identifiable information with third parties for marketing purposes at any time by e-mailing us at support@carringtontea.com. It is important to note that this opt-out does not prohibit disclosures made for non-marketing purposes.

  1. 9.      Choices and Access

You may always choose not to provide information on our Site even though this may interfere with your ability to take advantage of this Site and the Services Carrington offers.

If you wish to review, access, update, or correct the Personally Identifiable Information you have previously provided, you may do so by contacting us. Nonetheless, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent our computers from being illegally accessed, and the data on them stolen or altered, and we assume no liability or responsibility to you or to any third party arising out of any loss, misuse, destruction, or alteration of your Personally Identifiable Information. You should always take great care in handling and disclosing your Personally Identifiable Information. For example, avoid sending Personally Identifiable Information through insecure email.
